Wine Advocate 90 points (Jun 2011)
The 2005 Summa Varietalis is composed of 60% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Petit Verdot aged in seasoned French barriques for 10-14 months (with each variety vinified separately). It offers up a pleasing perfume of wood smoke, game, licorice, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry leading to a medium to full-bodied wine with outstanding volume, enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years, and layered, savory flavors. It will offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2020, perhaps longer.
 Wine Spectator 88 points (Jun 15 2010)
This generous red offers plum cake and raisin pudding flavors, with ripe fruit, modest but chewy tannins and a spicy finish. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2013. 7,500 cases made. -TM
