Review
Wine Spectator rating 91 points: "Bright and juicy, with pretty black cherry and currant flavors on a supple frame, finishing with an edge of exotic spices. Nicely done all around. Drink now through 2008. 1,879 cases made. (HS)"

From their Knudsen Vineyard – with those of Stoller and Lone Star in supporting roles – the Argyle 2010 Pinot Noir Reserve is wreathed seductively and surprisingly in wisteria, buddleia, and mint that convey a metaphorically cooling tone to the soothing, juicy palate evocation of blueberry and dark cherry. Unfortunately, awkward, almost rancid notes of leather and caramelized resin that I associate with oak slightly diminish the appeal of what is still a sweetly sappy as well as invigoratingly fruit pit-tinged finish. This should be worth following for at least 6-8 years, though I’d carefully monitor its oak’s integration – or lack thereof. (A more expensive 2009 Pinot Noir Nuthouse Reserve showed rather stewed – hence slightly dull – in fruit character, and similarly awkwardly oaky.) ”

Wine maker notes
How can this wine be so Big yet exhibit so much complexity and generosity? Aromas of wild black fruits like our dried Himilayan blackberries predominate but are also complex by ample portions chocolate covered cherries and rare spices, forest soil, toasted grain, and sweet floral essences. The flavor is ripe, silky black raspberry and earthy. Trademark silky and sweet impressions help mask the firm, ample tannins. Fruit flavors dominate the long, fresh finish, with a touch of toasted oak and cedar essences framing the fruit.
