Santa Rita Triple C 2008

Santa Rita Triple C 750ml 2008
Sku: 1875296

3 day lead-time required to confirm availability Why?

From Alto Jahuel and Maipo Valley. The climate is semi-arid Mediterranean. Rain is mainly concentrated in the winter and strongly influenced by the "El Niño" phenomenon, which increases rainfall frequency. In this parcel of land in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, night temperatures are quite low due to the flow of cold air coming down from the mountains. This causes a thermal oscillation that can surpass 68°F. The soils are of alluvial origin, stratified and gently sloped, of medium depth, loamy texture and basic pH.

Wine Advocate 90 points (Jun 2014)
The 2008 Triple C, first produced in 1997, is a blend of 65% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Carmenere from Apalta, aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels, which rests in bottle for at least one year before being sold. The Cabernet Franc is fruity, floral and gives the wine character, which has abundant notes of black fruit, less minty character (because of the higher humidity), as menthol develops when the plant is stressed by drought. This is elegant, with fine tannins. Drink 2014-2022.”,,,
 Wine Spectator 93 points (Dec 31 2013)
A powerful red, with a surplus of dark plum, blackberry and dark currant flavors that are pure and focused, wrapped in layers of vanilla and cream. The long finish is filled with dark chocolate and wild herb notes. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. Drink now through 2020. 3,100 cases made. –KM Rated #47 in Wine Spectator’s 2013 Top 100

Wine maker notes
The three varieties are vinified separately and stored in oak immediately after malolactic fermentation is completed, using new medium-toast French barrels from four cooperage and four different forests. Each wine was aged separately for 17 months and blended just before bottling.

Technical notes
14.7% abv

Food pairing
Wild game and fowl, ripe cheeses, spicy red meats.
